Yes, I am aware of Noam saying this.

But Mandela did not believe in violence, of course! He sat with his very understandable anger in jail for many years and came out incredibly happy and serene! In a way, I imagine he was one person who knew how to transmute it!

You come across to me as very black-and-white in your thinking. I suggest we treat human-nature as it is, not in its labels, but in shades of medium colours.

Anyone with their own mind is not optimistic that governments will do anythjng (i.e. larger Governments whereas smaller Governments are doing some things!); but it also has to happen. As Greta Thunberg says, 'we will not let you do this to our world'! I wonder what tricks she has up her sleeve!?

But your points about them not being interested, show to me that they DO NOT GET IT, they do not factor in that they will suffer and perhaps die, too! The reason why XR and others -why we are so desperate for us to change, is that it is affecting everyone equally! (a rich person has to ultimetely live off nature; food supplies are food supplies. Also -I would hope in the future that we will not have food imported from abroad for its inevitable carbon impact, if we are indeed still here!)

Intelligent/aware/caring people need to dialogue together about this to look for actual solutions - that could work in reality! You are right that those fossil-fuellers have not been challenged and can get away with it.

So enough people in the world need to really know just 1. How screwed we are; but 2. How we can still turn it around if we act like crazy together -in these next 5 years or so!

Yes, I know, not very likely until it is too late - -as it is now, already, really! But it has to Happen! This is our time!
